Big Ideas Fest Innovation in Action Award

The annual Big Ideas Fest Innovation in Action Award recognizes an individual or organization whose project embodies the spirit of ISKME's Big Ideas Fest: transforming education through innovative action.

The award has a special emphasis on innovations that allow teachers and learners to collaborate, particularly in ways that encourage sharing of ideas toward the creation of new learning tools and resources. Judges consider the potential global impact of the program as well as its accessibility to populations that are underserved. The recipient of the Innovation in Action Award is also granted funding to help scale their ideas.

Nirvan Mullick

Nirvan Mullick is an award winning filmmaker, social-entrepreneur, and partner at Interconnected, an LA based creative agency. Nirvan is the director of Caine's Arcade, a short film about a 9-year old boy's cardboard arcade. Caine's Arcade became an instant viral phenomenon, inspiring millions of kids, parents, and educators around the world. Nirvan founded the Imagination Foundation to find, foster, and fund creativity and entrepreneurship in more kids. Nirvan studied experimental animation at CalArts and serves on the board of CicLAvia.
