Kimberly Martin

Kimberly Martin, the principal of Woodrow Wilson High School, has been a high school principal for over 15 years, working in in Ohio, Colorado and Washington, DC.  Last year, Ms. Martin completed a Master’s in Executive Leadership from Georgetown University, through the DCPS EML program, which she describes as “the best professional development of my entire career.” She has a Master’s degree from John Carroll University in Secondary Education and a Bachelor’s Degree from Case Western Reserve University in English and History. She pursued a Doctorate in Urban Education and Policy Studies from Cleveland State University, which remains unfinished. As a high school teacher, Ms. Martin taught English Language Arts and Social Studies. She taught Writing and Composition at Lorain County Community College before being selected by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to pursue administration. She credits her high school teachers for making the most profound impact on her life, encouraging her to go to college and assisting with the application process. She uses her personal high school learning experiences to drive her mission to “make decisions based on student learning."
